WHAT ARE THE STATISTICS?

According to World Health Organization (2021), nearly 1 in 3, or 30% of women, have experienced physical and/or sexual violence worldwide. Moreover, over a quarter of women aged 15-49 have been physically and/or sexually violated by their intimate partners at least once. In Western Pacific, lifetime intimate partner violence prevalence estimates range from 20%. Meanwhile, 22% are in high-income countries and Europe, 25% in Regions of the Americas, 33% in the African region, 31% in the Eastern Mediterranean region, and 33% in the South-East Asia region.

In addition to this, it is reported that 38% of all murders of women are committed by their intimate partners. Furthermore, 6% of women worldwide report that they have been sexually assaulted by someone who is not their partner.

Although these statistics are already shocking enough, these are just the tip of the iceberg. Read the infographics below to know more.
